Finding what you talk about consistently on YouTube may be rough if you have no idea about where to start. Most creators quit after the first few videos because they lack direction.
We all know that the first goal for any smaller creator is to get monetized on YouTube. To achieve it, you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watchhours.
If you want to finally have your chance on YouTube, what you need is:
Clarity about what you post and for whom
A system to generate ideas and valuable videos without burnout.
Hi, I’m Vhalessiah. I am a Content Writer and Empowerment Coach, and here I share my journey to build a service-based Business and high-income Skills.
How to start your YouTube journey Today
This is my YouTube Journey series, where I share with you my journey to grow from 0 to 100’000 subscribers.
After trials and errors, I was able to build a library of content on LinkedIn, YouTube, and my Website, without burnout.
And now I bring you with me on the journey to build an online presence and stack high-income skills to reach financial freedom.
Welcome to week 1

Today, we are focusing on gaining clarity to jump-start your YouTube career. In the next post, I’ll help you define a system to generate consistent, valuable Content even if you are still learning a skill, and you are a beginner at everything.
Disclaimer: while the information I share with you is valuable, your priority is to post, enjoy yourself creating, and have fun.
If what I’m talking about traps you in analysis paralysis, don’t implement what I discovered, and just post. No “How to Video” will be better than showing up consistently and with passion.
My story and the mistakes I made
I’m sharing with you a piece of my story, to highlight the mistakes I made, that I want you to avoid from day one.
I’ve been studying, applying, working behind the scenes for my YouTube channel, and marketing for 6 years now.
I’ve been procrastinating starting to post on YouTube because I knew I wanted to share unique value with my audience that comes from my experience, and eventually build my portfolio, testimonials, and a service-based business that I could eventually scale.
The issue I had was that I wasted the majority of my life trying to survive in an abusive household while dealing with my mental health issues and traumas.
I knew I had to start from somewhere, but I didn’t want to share my personal life and struggles; I wanted to master some of the so-called high-income skills.
I didn’t know where to start, so I just made random videos, trying to niche down as much as possible, but after some time, everything became boring, and I just quit.
The problems I had were that I didn’t know how to build in public without being boring, and I didn’t know how to leverage my story and reframe it to turn it into a monetizable set of skills.
I made 2 mistakes here:
First, I quit instead of persisting
Secondly, the imposter syndrome had the best on me, and I kept thinking I had no place in any field I was interested in. The truth is, we all are beginners and suck at what we are doing, at first. But it’s by showing up consistently that we improve and become real experts.
Clarify your story and who you are talking to
How to become THE niche
How to find your target audience
Niching down
You probably already know what niching and niching down are: you find a small corner of the Internet, a broad topic, and in that topic or niche, you pick a sub-topic to talk about over and over again.
Niching down is useful if you have very specific knowledge, and you are super passionate about it.
With the right template, you could talk about the same topic forever.
I had so many issues with niching because I am multi-passionate, and I wanted to become irreplaceable by AI and by every other competitor.
The only solution is to become the niche through storytelling and by creating a buyer persona.
By the way, if you want to niche because you think it’s your cup of tea, just pick a topic where you are experienced, passionate about, and that brings you money.
You’re welcome, I saved you hours of courses and video strategies.
How to become the niche
As I said, if you want to become the niche, you need to acquire the skill of storytelling.
Storytelling is the art of sharing stories to evoke emotions and convey messages.
Therefore, you will:
Write your story
Frame it to become compelling, inspiring, and useful to your audience
Use it as the compass for your Content Strategy
Having a YouTube channel means serving your audience: they watch your videos because they have a problem you can solve, whether it is entertainment, knowledge, or to unwind. You must be of help.
Your channel’s focus is them.

Write your story
Think about what you’ve achieved, or what you want to achieve, and write it down in 3 to 4 sentences. The template is something like:
I had this problem, but I was able to solve it through this method, knowledge, or product, despite these limits, and now I want to help people do the same.
If you want to share what you are learning and you don’t want to talk about yourself, the template is:
I am learning/ doing this because I think it will help me achieve this goal, and I share this with my audience because.
You must reflect on:
What problem do you have or have had?
The solution you found: whether it’s a product, a skill to learn or you learned, or a system
How you believe what you want to talk about will help your audience
How will what you talk about save them time, money, and health?
Why they should watch the video or follow you: is it the value you provide? Is it how you communicate the message? Is it because you offer free templates, frameworks, or services?
Find your target audience.
For your story to be relevant, it must solve a problem your audience has, but how do you find the audience if you are starting from scratch?
It’s simple: think about your old self, and how you were before you discovered the solution you are sharing.
If you are only learning a new skill, think about the reason why you chose it, the preliminary stages that led you to finally learning, and the limiting beliefs that were disturbing you.
You don’t need to be a guru or an expert; being one step ahead of them is enough.
Imagine you are making Content for your old self, brain dump a list of problems you had, obstacles, limiting beliefs, mistakes you’ve made.
From there, you can pick one problem at a time, research it, and craft content that will speak directly to your audience.
You can curate other people’s content, summarize books, or consume courses, and then talk about them by always asking yourself: ”How will what I want to share serve my audience?”
Always be honest and explain that you are learning or curating something from other people, while adding your unique points of view and tweaks. Honesty always pays off.
Being a beginner Content Creator is tough if you don’t know how provide value to your viewers.
If you want to grow on social media, shift the focus from you to them.
You can talk about whatever topic you are interested in, if you can frame it in a fashion that is useful to others.
If you want to build your Authority, I'll write for you authentic and valuable YouTube scripts to attract more leads and generate sales.
